Bahrain’s Shia leader said the country’s security forces inflame the crisis instead of managing it.

Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Qassem made the remark while delivering his Friday prayers sermon at Imam Sadeq (AS) Mosque in Manama, adding that in other countries when there are clashes, the security policy is to promote dialogue but in Bahrain it is the security forces who fan the flames of the crisis.

He referred to the attack on a Bahraini woman by Al Khalifa forces in Aali region, and regarded it as a shameful act.

Ayatollah Qassem said the Al Khalifa regime’s silence over the attack indicates the regime’s participation in it, Sawt Al-Manama website reported.

He added that the move was aimed at enraging all Bahrainis and provoking them to stage angry protests.

The Shia leader urged the supporters of the Al Khalifa regime to put pressure on the regime instead of backing it.

He underlined that the real solution to Bahrain’s crisis lies in reforms and that wighout political reforms the problems will not be resolved.

Earlier this month, Al Khalifa forces attacked a house in Aali region in the center of Bahrain, beating up the women inside the house.

Since mid-February 2011, thousands of pro-democracy protesters have staged numerous demonstrations in the streets of Bahrain, calling for the Al Khalifa royal family to relinquish power.

On March 14, 2011, troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates invaded the country to assist the Bahraini government in its crackdown on the peaceful protesters.

According to local sources, scores of people have been killed and hundreds arrested.
