In order to understand the language of the Quran, translation is only a first step.
Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Ali Mousavi Darabi made the remark in an interview with IQNA, adding that in order to comprehend the Quran, one needs to understand the language of the Holy Book.
The Quran scholar and researcher said Tafsir (interpretation) is the next step, while the other two steps for understanding the language of the Quran are Tanzil and Ta’wil.
He noted that there have been good translations of the Quran into Persian and people can refer to these renderings to understand the meaning of the Quran’s verses.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mousavi Darabi said the best Quran translation into Persian is the one by Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, who has been a Quran interpreter and has worked on Quranic topics for years.
Asked why many people fail to refer to and read the Quran, the scholar said many are unaware of the message of the Quran and do not realize that they should hold fast to the Book of God to find the path to salvation.
