Egypt’s Awqaf Ministry has recently organized a session to discuss preparations for holding the competition, El-balad website reported.
Awqaf Minister Mukhtar Guma in this session presented a report on the activities underway for organizing the contest.
He said Quran memorizers and Quran experts from different Arab and Islamic countries have been invited to take part in the competition as contenders and jury members.
Guma said the competition will be held in four categories, the first featuring memorization of the entire Quran along with Tajweed and Tarteel recitation and familiarity with Sha’an Nuzul (cause of revelation).
The other three categories are memorization of the entire Quran along with interpretation of the 30th Juz (section), memorization of 20 Juzes, and memorization of the last 8 Juzes of the Quran, he stated.
According to the report, the awarding ceremony will be held in cooperation with Al-Azhar Islamic Center with the participation of Egypt’s president and the Sheikh of Al-Azhar.
