The Islamic Republic of Iran and Indonesia will boost cooperation in Quranic fields.

The Iranian Cultural Center in Jakarta has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Quranic Sciences University of Jakarta aimed at developing joint Quranic activities.

The MoU was signed during a meeting between Hojatollah Ebrahimain, Iran’s cultural attaché, and chancellor of the university Ahsan Sakha Muhammad, IQNA’s Southeast Asia branch reported.

The joint activities will include establishment of an Iran section in the university and organizing a specialized forum on Quran translation.

During the meeting, Ahsan Sakha Muhammad briefed the Iranian cultural attaché on the Quranic Sciences University’s activities, saying that currently 650 students are studying in the three colleges of the university.

He said all of the university’s students first learn the Quran by heart before studying Quranic sciences.

Sakha Muhammad, who is a memorizer and reciter of the Quran and has written a Quran exegesis titled Tafsir Al-Wajiz, said he has been to Iran several times and described Iran as a Quranic country.

He stated that Indonesia’s Quranic scholars should benefit from the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Quranic achievements.

Hojatollah Ebrahimain, for his part, said Iran is working to establish a new Quranic civilization today and that Iran is ready to exchange experiences with Indonesia in religious and cultural fields.
