Iranian Muslims on Sunday held ceremonies across the country to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Sadeq (AS)

There were popular ceremonies and ritual on the auspicious occasion that included recitation of the Quran and sermons in praise of the Holy oly Prophet (PBUH) and the sixth Shia Imam (AS).

In a ceremony marking the auspicious occasion, thousands of people gathered in the mausoleum of Hazrat Abdul Azim Hassani (AS) in the city of Rey, south of the capital Tehran, to rejoice.

The holy city of Mashhad, the country’s spiritual capital, as well as the holy cities of Qom and Shiraz were also the scenes of special celebrations.

In cities and provinces where Sunnis reside, the ceremonies manifested unity between Shia and Sunni Muslims.

Sunday also marked the end of Unity Week. Unity Week was named as such by the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini (RA), because it refers to the two different dates of the same week in the month of Rabi Al-Awwal, in which Shia and Sunni Muslims believe Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born.
