Takfiris Behind Beirut Bombings

Former Lebanese president Emile Lahoud has blamed Takfiri terrorists for yesterday blasts in Beirut.

He condemned the terrorist bombings and said Takfiris who are unhappy with Lebanon’s current trend of returning to political and security stability have launched the attacks, Al-Manar TV network reported.

On Tuesday, two explosions hit the Haret Hriek neighborhood in southern Beirut, which is considered as a stronghold of Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah.

According to reports, at least four people were killed and dozens of others injured in the attacks.

Lebanon’s Sunni Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Rashid Qabbani also condemned the terrorist bombings. He underlined that these acts of terrorism run counter to Islamic tenets and principles.

Sheikh Abdel Amir Qabalan, deputy head of Lebanon’s Supreme Shia Council, regarded the attacks as cowardly acts and urged for vigilance against terrorist activities.

President Michel Suleiman, head of Qawlana Wal-Amal Society Sheikh Ahmed Al-Qattan, and head of Allameh Fadlallah Institute Sayyid Ali Fadlallah were among other officials who slammed the terrorist attack.
