“ Youth of Quran” Gathering Begins in Qatar
It has been organized by the Office for Religious Dissemination and Guidance affiliated to the country’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Al-Sharq website reported.
The Cultural Committee of Al-Arabi Sports Club in Qatar has cooperated with the office to organize the gathering with the aim of promoting religious awareness of the youth and developing the power of innovation and creativity of the younger generation.
Seyyed Abdullah Mahmoud, head of the committee said that the cultural program is a prelude to a greater cultural event to be organized in cooperation with the ministry.
He added that a competition in two categories of memorization and recitation of 3 and 5 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Quran and a seminar on Quranic ethics were among the programs of the first day of the gathering.
The program also included an educational course on “Quranic rituals” instructed by Isam Al-Housali, education supervisor of the office’s guidance section.
The head of the committee noted that three top participants in each category of the Quranic contest, members of its jury panel, lecturers of the seminars and instructors of the educational courses will be honored at the end of the cultural gathering.
