The Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs organized the contest in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Al-Raya website reported.
Teysir Al-Rajabi, director general of the Awqaf ministry’s Quran department, said only those holding a Tajweed or recitation certificate could attend the competition.
He said the contestants were also required to have learned at least 2 Juzes (sections) of the Quran by heart.
Al-Rajabi added that the competition on the most beautiful Quran and Adhan recitation will also be held in the cities of Ramallah and Ariha (Jericho).
According to Culture Minister Anwar Abuaysha, the competitions are held with the aim of indentifying and introducing Quran talents who live in different parts of Palestine.
He said the top talents in Quran and Adhan recitation are sent to Arab and Islamic countries as the Quranic ambassadors of Palestine.
