The five top winners in the three categories of the contest received their awards at the closing ceremony attended by the Jordanian education minister and envoys from Arab and Islamic countries, Al-Madina News reported.
The jury panel of the competition announced representatives of Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Palestine and Iraq as winners of the first to fifth ranks in the category of memorization of the entire Quran.
In memorization of 20 Juzes (sections) of the Quran, contenders from Bahrain, Oman, Mauritania, Tunisia and Turkey came first to fifth.
Quran memorizers from the UK, Brunei, Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Lebanon bagged the prizes in the third category, namely memorization of 10 Juzes.
Elham Hosseinzadeh who represented Iran in the second category of the competition failed to secure any of the top five ranks.
The competition had started in the Jordanian capital on Thursday, May 1, with the participation of 35 countries.
