Malaysia’s multi-award winning fashion designers Melinda Looi launched a ready-to-wear Eid collection in Kuala Lumpur, in partnership with local celebrity Diana Danielle.
Melinda wanted to promote the spirit of giving during Ramadan with her array of stylish, youthful and practical pieces.
The collection features colorful and vibrant kurung modern pieces, with additional surprising touches of chic like lace, pleats, embroidery, geometric prints and textures. In the exclusively designed prints are also inspirations from the decorative Andalusian art of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain.
Part of the sales proceeds from both collections will be donated to the National Heart Institute (IJN) of Malaysia, nominated by Diana, to help the institute carry out research and provide healthcare for its underprivileged patients.
“I visited the paediatric ward of IJN assisted by the personnel one day, and the sight of so many children suffering from cardiovascular conditions really tugged at my heartstrings. Many of their parents cannot afford to pay for treatment, which is where the IJN foundation comes in to help. I hope that this collaboration with Melinda Looi will contribute towards the treatment of some children,” said Diana, who is also a mother of an 11-month-old boy.
