He dreams of one day becoming a prominent figure in the field of Quran recitation and following in the footsteps of Master Abdul Basit Abdul Samad.

“I have been memorizing the Holy Quran since I was a child and I wish to be like Master Abdul Basit, because he has no equal in the field of Quran recitation,” says Yousef Muhammad Amr, Al Youm Al Sabah reported.

He became famous on social media after trying to imitate the voice of Master Abdul Basit Abdul Samad.

The attention was not limited to social media, but also extended to the preliminary stages of the Egyptian Quranic talent television program “State of Recitation”. The young contestant captivated the judges and audience with a distinctive voice that touched hearts before it reached the ears; a voice that, for many, reminded them of the authentic characteristics of the Egyptian school of recitation.

The young Yousef, affectionately nicknamed “Little Abdul Basit,” established himself as one of the future Quran reciters. This success was not the result of imitation, but rather his unique ability to understand the spirit of performance and the sense of humility and dignity that characterized the veteran masters. Many observers believe that his voice promises to make him a prominent master in the future, provided that he continues to learn and master the art.

Fourteen-year-old Yousef says that his familiarity with the Holy Quran began many years ago. He has memorized twenty chapters of God’s Book and is still working to memorize the entire Quran.

He added that his skill in reciting the Quran was not the result of religious education or courses at specialized institutions, but rather the result of his own efforts.

He spent many hours listening to audio files of prominent reciters on the Internet, imitating their recitation style and carefully studying the pronunciation of letters and rules of recitation, to the extent that his ear was trained for recognizing the most delicate details and his voice became more mature and skilled over time.

Yousef explains that his mother, relying on her belief in his talent, was the first to encourage him to participate in Quranic competitions, including in the field of professional recitation. Meanwhile, his father was the first to draw his attention to the beauty of his voice and always encouraged him to continue memorizing and reciting the Quran.

This talented child does not hide his deep devotion to Master Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, whom he considers his role model. He dreams of following in the footsteps of the sheikh and becoming one of the leading Quran reciters in Egypt and the Muslim world. He also regularly listens to the recitations of Sheikh Muhammad Siddiq Minshawi and is fascinated by the spirituality and reverent tone of his voice.
