The Secretary General stressed that the brutal aggression witnessed in Gaza had been preceded by an inhuman siege, a longstanding crime that must be ended immediately.
He affirmed that he was following with deep concern the ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza and its repercussions on the critical humanitarian situation there, having already caused the death of hundreds of people and maimed many more in addition to the destruction of hundreds of homes whose inhabitants have thus been dispersed and fated to live in the open.
The Secretary General’s appeal for relief to the Gaza Strip comes within the framework of action for the implementation of the results of the meeting of the OIC enlarged Ministerial-Level Extraordinary Executive Meeting that was held on 10 July 2014 at the OIC headquarters, regarding the grave situation in the occupied state of Palestine including Al-Quds/Jerusalem, a meeting that called on the Member States, the OIC institutions and the Arab and Islamic funds, to extend urgent relief to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, particularly in the medical area, to face up to the severe shortage in medical products and equipment, due to the continued Israeli aggression and brutal siege on Gaza.
