A Quranic course held in the Italian city of Turin was received well by Muslims in the city.

The course was held for two weeks on recitation of the Holy Quran, rules of Tajweed, and Tawasheeh (religious choral singing), IRNA reports.

Iranian Qari and Quran expert Mas’ud Piruzmand held the intensive course at Al-Tawhid Islamic Center in the Northern Italian city.

The classes were held for two age groups of 'children and teenagers' and 'adults' every evening for two weeks.

Piruzmand, who has written a book on practical learning of reading and reciting the Quran, used new methods to teach the course.

The participants took a final test at the end of the course on August 12.

Islam is the second-most widely practiced religion in Italy professed by an estimated 2% of the population, according to 2011 estimates.
