The Secretary General reaffirmed the OIC position that the practices of ISIL have nothing to do with Islam and its principles that call for justice, kindness, fairness, freedom of faith and coexistence, OIC's website reported.
Such atrocities also contradict the principles of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation that call for the entrenchment of a culture of tolerance and affinity among all nations and peoples, he added.
Madani also condemned the cold-blooded murder of American journalist James Wright Foley by the terrorist group.
The Secretary General welcomed the call to convene an international conference to formulate a global strategy to eradicate the threat posed by ISIL. T
he conference, Madani urged, should reflect on the root causes that gave rise to this terrorist group, particularly the defragmentation of the political, administrative, civil and social institutions in Iraq in the wake of the US intervention in 2003.
