Secretary General of Palestine's Islamic Jihad Movement underlined that the Zionist regime suffered a political and strategic defeat in the 51-day war against Gaza.

Addressing a congress of Muslim scholars in support of the Palestinian resistance in Tehran, Ramadan Abdullah Mohammad Shalah added that the Palestinian nation was victorious in the war.
"Israel sought to disarm the Palestinian resistance movement but failed to achieve its objective and faced a political and strategic defeat," he stated.
The congress of Muslim world scholars in support of Palestinian resistance kicked off in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Tuesday morning.
200 prominent scholars and political figures from various countries are attending the international gathering.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Abdullah stressed the responsibility of the Muslim nations to help Palestinians in the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
He also thanked the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian nation for their support for the Palestinian people and resistance movement.
The Israeli military unleashed aerial attacks on Gaza in early July and later expanded its military campaign with a ground invasion into the Palestinian territory.
The Tel Aviv regime did not even spare hospitals and UN-run schools sheltering thousands of Palestinians during its aerial and ground attacks against the densely-inhabited sliver.
