Quran Memorization Contest Held in Sierra Leone

A national competition on memorization of the Holy Quran’s verses was held for the youth in Sierra Leone.

 According to International Islamic News Agency (IINA), 23 memorizers of the Quran participated in the competition, which was organized by the Dar-ul-Birr Institute in Kenema city.

The International Association of Quran Memorization cooperated in holding the competition.
The young Quran memorizers competed on memorization of the entire Quran, and memorization of 15, 10 and 5 Juzes (parts) of the Quran.
Top participants were awarded in a ceremony at the end of the competition.
The importance of Quran memorization and the status of the Holy Quran among Muslims were highlighted by those who addressed the ceremony.
The role of the association in serving the Holy Quran was another theme stressed by the speakers.
There are nearly 4 million Muslims in Sierra Leone, making up more than 70 percent of the country's total population .
