National Quran Memorization Contest Planned in Qatar

The 9th edition of Qatar's national competition on memorization of the Holy Quran will be held on December 20.


According to Raya newspaper, the competition titled “Sheikh Ghanim bin Ali Al Thani” will be held for two groups of male and female participants.

Students of Quran memorization centers affiliated to the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Qatar will participate at the competition.

Sheikh Khalid bin Muhammad bin Ghanim Al Thani, supervisor of this edition of the Quranic event, said that registration for the competition continues until October 26.

Encouraging girls and boys to attend the Quran memorization centers of the country and promoting the students’ skills in memorization of the Quran’s verses and Tajweed principles are the objectives of the competition, he added.

The Qatari Quran expert also stated that the permission for the establishment of a new Quranic center named “Sheikh Ghanim” has been issued and the center will open in Qatar in early 2015.
