On the tenth night of Muharram (November 3) which marked the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his household and companions, various Quran reading sessions were held in the holy city of Karbala.

Iraqi religious figures and Quran reciters of custodianship of Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine participated at the annual program.

The session began with some verses of the Holy Quran recited by Mustafa Al-Sarraf, Iraqi Quran reciter and continued with a speech presented by Sheikh Mostafa Mesri Al-‘Ameli, representative of the Husseini Dar-ol-Quran Center.

A number of Qaris of the center recited Holy Quran’s verses at the session and another speech presented by Sheikh Hassan Al-Mansouri, head of the center.

He said that the reward for reading the Holy Quran’s verses at the program was gifted to the souls of the Karbala martyrs.

Al-Mansouri added that the annual session is held following Imam Hussein (AS) as a role-model who spent the night of Ashura praying and reading Quran.

Another Quranic session was organized on the occasion by Quran Memorization Group of the center for Quran students and teachers at “Aqilah Zeynab (SA)” Hall near Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine.
