The International Quran Competition for Muslim Students provides a venue for interactions among students from different countries.

Alam Abdullahyev, A PhD student from the Republic of Azerbaijan, who will represent his country in the 5th edition of the competition early next year, made the remark in an interview with IQNA adding that the international event creates a unique atmosphere for interactions and exchanges of views among the participants.
He referred to helping to boost Islamic unity as another main feature of the competition as students following different Islamic schools of thought take part in the Quranic event.
Abdullahyev, who also attended the first edition of the contest, remembers that Shia and Sunni participants held congregational prayers together as a symbol of unity.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Azerbaijani Quran reciter suggested that the category of Quran interpretation (Tafsir) be included in the competition so that Shia and Sunni students taking part in the contest read Quran interpretations written by scholars of the other school and learn about their ideas.
He further thanked the organizers of the competition and expressed the hope that the Republic of Azerbaijan would also host such a Quranic event in the future.
The fifth edition of the International Holy Quran Competition for Muslims Students is scheduled to be held in January 2015 in Tehran by the Iranian Academics' Quranic Activities Organization.
The Iranian cities of Isfahan, Tehran, Mashhad and Tabriz hosted the previous four editions of the international competition, which is aimed at enhancing Islamic unity, paving the way for promotion of Quranic teachings and culture and providing a venue for interactions among Muslim world students.
