4th Balkans Quran Competition Underway in Skopje
The competition has been organized with the support of the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance in cooperation with the Islamic Union of North Macedonia.
A total of 200 male and female Quran activists from 29 countries have participated in the Quranic event, competing in five categories.
Supporting Quran memorizers, encouraging competition in Quran memorization, recitation and Tajweed, and strengthening communication and cooperation with Islamic institutions around the world are among the goals of holding this competition.
The opening ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. It was attended by Sheikh Shakir Fatehu, the Grand Mufti of North Macedonia and the president of the Islamic Union of the country, as well as scholars, muftis, heads of Islamic and educational institutions, members of the jury, participants of the competition and a number of prominent Islamic figures.
Sheikh Abdullatif bin Hussein Al-Hussein, the religious attaché of the embassy of Saudi Arabia in Bosnia and Herzegovina, who also oversees the activities and programs of the Saudi Islamic affairs ministry in North Macedonia, in a speech at the event highlighted the important role of parents in encouraging their children to memorize the Book of God.
He urged the participants to make their intentions pure for God and make the Holy Quran the permanent guide of their lives.

Sheikh Shakir Fatahu also addressed the ceremony, emphasizing that these events are not simply competitions in memorization and recitation, but represent a spiritual, intellectual and cultural gathering that unites Muslims around the Holy Quran and strengthens the values of brotherhood, cooperation and communication between people.
