Oman Quran Radio Marks 20th Anniversary
The station is dedicated to the Holy Quran and its sciences, broadcasting Quranic recitations in various narrations recited by readers of diverse ages and both genders, alongside a selection of purposeful and specialized programs on the Holy Quran and its sciences.
The Holy Quran Radio Station began its initial broadcasting for seven hours daily in 2006, expanding to round-the-clock 24-hour broadcasting starting on January 1, 2014, across 28 transmission stations covering various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to satellite broadcasting and the 'Ayn' platform, enabling listeners to follow its broadcasts inside and outside Oman.
The radio station operates from a well-defined vision based on consolidating concepts of moderation, balance, and tolerance in Islam — values that distinguish Omani society — drawing on the principles of Islam, calling for understanding and rapprochement among Islamic schools of thought, and promoting harmony, brotherhood, and compassion among people.
Ahmed bin Muhana al Kindi, Director of the Holy Quran Radio Department at the Directorate-General of Radio in the Ministry of Information, stated that the passage of 20 years since the launch of the Holy Quran Radio Station from Oman represents an important milestone in its media journey. Since the launch of its broadcast, the station has been keen to serve as a platform for spreading the Quran, consolidating the tolerant values of Islam based on moderation, balance, and tolerance, and offering solid Quranic and scientific content that meets the needs of various segments of society.
He added that over this journey, the radio station experienced continuous development in broadcasting hours and content quality, moving to 24-hour broadcasting and offering Quranic recitations in various narrations, along with specialized programs in the sciences of the Holy Quran, its exegesis, rules of recitation, and Islamic values, utilizing various modern platforms and broadcasting means to reach listeners inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman.
Regarding Quranic recitations, he pointed out that the radio library includes recited Quran recordings by reciters from across the Islamic world. It also features complete recordings in various Quranic narrations uniquely broadcast by the station, alongside offering specialized programs explaining them. The radio station has also recorded complete recited Quran recordings by Omani reciters, as well as other recitations by them, in addition to acquiring Quranic recordings by Omani reciters in the narration of Hafs from 'Asim and the narration of Qalun.
Regarding empowering Omani reciters, he explained that the radio station paid great attention to recording complete recited Qurans by Omani reciters from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman and of diverse ages.

It also enabled Omani reciters to undertake the task of auditing recitations during recording and after completion, noting that the Reciter Selection Committee at Radio and Television includes a select group of professors specializing in the science of Quranic recitations, who are also reciters on the Holy Quran Radio Station.
He explained that the Holy Quran Radio Station received the highest satisfaction score in the public opinion poll on listener satisfaction with the program content of the Sultanate of Oman's Radio and Television, conducted by the National Centre for Statistics and Information in 2025.
Additionally, several programs broadcast by the station won Persian Gulf and Arab awards, including 'Deen Al Rahmah' (Religion of Mercy), 'Atheer Al Arabiyyah' (Ether of Arabic), and 'Qiyamuna Hawiyyatuna' (Our Values, Our Identity).
He mentioned that the number of programs presented by the radio station in the current programming cycle has increased to more than 22 programs, compared to 8 programs in the first programming cycle in 2006.
