25 Compete on 1st Day of Int'l Quran Contest in Saudi Arabia

The first day of the 36th edition of international Quran contest in Saudi Arabia was held on November 15 with 25 participants.


According to Al-Watan newspaper, the competition was organized in two morning and evening sections.

11 participants represented Bahrain, Chad, Gambia, Pakistan, Libya, Morocco, Niger, Cameroon, Mauritania, The Philippines and Algeria in the morning section of the international competition.

14 representatives from Tunisia, Indonesia, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Tajikistan, The Philippines, Reunion, Nigeria, Cameroon, Myanmar, Bahrain, Bosnia and Herzegovina and south of Africa competed in the evening section of the contest.

The 36th international Quran contest in Saudi Arabia will continue at the Grand Mosque in Mecca for 8 days.

138 Quran reciters and memorizers from 59 countries have participated in the contest.

Various categories of the contest include memorization of the entire Quran with Tajweed, pronunciation and interpretation of Quranic terms, memorization of the entire Quran with Tajweed and pronunciation of Quranic terms, memorization of 15 successive Juzes (parts) of the Holy Quran with Tajweed and pronunciation and memorization of 5 successive Juzes of the Holy Quran with Tajweed and pronunciation.

The participants from non-Muslim countries will compete in the fourth category.
