Mosques Week Confab Begins in Tehran

--The 5th conference of the International Mosques Week began this morning in Tehran.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Hojat-ol-Islam Rezaei ,secretary of the conference said that one of the main objectives of the conference is boosting Muslim unity by identifying the potentials of mosques.

He pointed to the naming of this year by the supreme leader of the Revolution as the year of national unity an Islamic solidarity and said “Mosques are the main bases of unity among Muslims and we need to further capitalize on this role of mosques.”

“The 5th conference of the International Mosques Week is aimed at highlighting the role and significance of mosques in society’s social and political life, reviving mosques’ educational role, encouraging governments of the Islamic countries to take a more active part in rebuilding and reviving mosques, and finding ways to attract people of different strata, especially youths, to mosques,” Hojat-ol-Islam Rezaei stated.

He said that some 160 articles with the theme “mosques, bases of national unity and Islamic solidarity” have been submitted to secretariat of the conference, adding that another topic to be discussed at the conference is ideal mosque in Islamic society.
