Pilgrimage Sites Play Effective Role in Attracting Tourists

-- Along with the rich Islamic culture and various historical and cultural attractions in the country, pilgrimage sites can also play a key role in attracting foreign tourists, an academic said.
Zahra Mousavi, director of the E-College of Hadith Sciences in South Khorasan Province, referred to some holy shrines and mosques in different cities of Mashhad, Shiraz, Isfahan and Yazd as tourist attractions of the country, especially for Muslim tourists.
Tourism industry is considered one of the most important sources of income as well as job creation worldwide, she said, noting that all the countries in the world try to make use of all their potentials to attract more tourists.
Religious tourism and pilgrimage trips can help Iran and other Islamic countries develop their tourism industry, she noted, adding that proper planning is necessary for introducing the country's natural, historical, cultural and religious attractions.
