According to the holy Quran, Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was a messenger sent by God to all mankind, calling them from darkness to light, very much like bringing the dead back to life.
Talking to IQNA about the anniversary of Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) Be’sat (being chosen as the messenger of God) on the 27th day of the month of Rajab, Reza Mohammadzadeh, rector of the Faculty of Theology in Imam Sadeq (AS) University, referred to the significance of this great day to all Muslims, adding: “The word ‘Mab’as’ is derived from the root ‘Ba-a-sa’ in Arabic meaning resurrection and coming back to life, and this is a very significant point to consider.”
“Likewise, Mab’as is a message to all mankind calling them from death to life, a mission Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was sent to perform here on the earth,” he went on to say.
Referring to some Quranic verses featuring the lofty status of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as the messenger of God, he asserted: “Be’sat is in fact a divine blessing for man to appreciate the gift of hearing God’s message, as people before the Prophet’s missionary life were living a dead life in total darkness and ignorance and would not have come back to real life had he not been sent to their rescue.”
“The significance of Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) mission lies in the fact that he was sent to all people including the literate and the illiterate, as well as the believers and non-believers, and that all classes of people were given the divine gift, i.e. an opportunity to receive the source of guidance and find their path to absolute perfection,” Mr. Mohammadzadeh further remarked.
He also highlighted Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) exceptional passion and sympathy in guiding all mankind to the straight path to the extent that it is even mentioned in some Quranic verses.
