Over 7 Million Pilgrims Visited Mashhad in Norouz
Deputy of Astan-e Quds Razavi for holy sites and pilgrims affairs said during the Norouz holidays (March 20-April 1) over 7 million pilgrims visited the holy city of Mashhad.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Mahmoud Momtaz added that Astan-e Quds Razavi did very well in serving the pilgrims of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine.
“This year was a golden year in terms of the services provided to the pilgrims,” he noted.
Momtaz said efforts were made to ensure order, security and peace, so that the pilgrims can make the most of the spiritual atmosphere of the holy place.
He went on to say that according to a poll conducted by Astan-e Quds Razavi’s public relations office, around 95 percent of the pilgrims were happy with the services.
Mashhad is one of the most extensively visited pilgrimage centers in the world. Over 20 million people travel to the city annually to visit the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS).
