In implementing the Noor Plan, focusing on memorization of the Quran alone will not be much fruitful and efforts should be made to promote reflection on the teachings of the Holy Book, too.
This is according to head of the Quran Foundation Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Mehdi Hosseinzadeh speaking to IQNA about the national campaign for training memorizers of the Quran, called the Noor Plan.
He said along with promoting memorization of the Quran, attention should also be paid to understanding the Quran as well as Quran translation, concepts, and interpretation.
Hojat-ol-Islam Hosseinzadeh, who also heads Allameh Askari Institute, said the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khamenei has emphasized the need for training 10 million memorizers of the Quran who also contemplate on the Quranic concepts.
He further urged Quranic experts to come up with new methods for implementing the campaign for training 10 million memorizers of the Holy Quran.
Head of the Quran Foundation also called for long-term planning for Quranic activities.
Some 3.5 million students and Education Ministry personnel from across the country have signed up in the Noor Plan to learn the Quran by heart.
