Taghrib Means Seeking Common Grounds

Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) said Taghrib (proximity) does not mean imposing one’s views on others, but rather trying to find and extend common grounds.
Speaking in a meeting with a group of Egyptian media persons and journalists, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Ali Taskhiri also said that the main objectives of the WFPIST is promoting Islamic unity.
He said the reason for establishing the forum, which is also the mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was enhancing unity in the Islamic Ummah and bringing back human dignity to the Ummah.
Hojat-ol-Islam Taskhiri referred to the history of the forum, saying that it was established at the order of Imam Khomeini (RA) and with full support of Imam Khamenei.
He said the forum has been active in various fields such as publishing books and periodicals, holding seminars and conferences, and attending conferences on Islamic proximity.
Hojat-ol-Islam Taskhiri further pointed to the activities of some media to create discord among Islamic sects and said while there are many satellite networks working to create division among Muslims, Iran endeavors to boost unity.
