Head of Iran’s Environment Protection Organization said according to Islamic principles, protecting the environment is a responsibility for people and officials.
Mohammad Javad Mohammadizadeh added that Islam has made everyone responsible for saving the environment and its resources.
He said the environment is a blessing from God and that it is against the Sharia and wisdom to destroy the environment and waste its resources.
“Just as we are not allowed to do harm to ourselves according to Islamic injunctions, we are not allowed to do harm to the environment, either.”
He stressed that Muslims are responsible for protecting the environment, adding that “we, as Muslims, should not drive cars that pollute the environment”.
Mohammadizadeh also said that there are numerous sayings from Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) about the need for protecting the environment.
