Hojat-ol-Islam Mojtaba Zolnoor described unity as the major strategy for resolving the Muslim world’s issues, underlining that the Islamic Revolution of Iran, the founder of the Islamic Republic late Imam Khomeini (RA) and the Iranian nation has been the main advocates and harbingers of unity in the Muslim world.
He said the Islamic Republic of Iran has called for unity in different ways but Islamic countries have responded to this call differently.
Some Muslim governments have cooperated in this endeavor and the world public opinion and the Muslim Ummah have generally supported the call, he underlined.
Hojat-ol-Islam Zolnoor stressed that the elements of Islamic unity should be enhanced and institutions in the Muslim world should work to reinforce the diplomacy of unity.
Such bodies as the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) World Assembly and others are active in this field, he stated.
The cleric regarded the Islamic Awakening movement as a significant event in reviving the identity of the Islamic Ummah, adding that one of the outcomes of the Islamic Awakening has been further proximity of the Islamic countries with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He referred to Salafist groups as one of the main obstacles to unity in the Muslim world and said the Muslim Ummah and the governments that have come to power as a result of the Islamic Awakening should be vigilant against attempts to foment discord.
Hojat-ol-Islam Zolnoor also said that the enemies of Islam claim to be against extremist groups like Al-Qaeda but they actually support these groups because they seek to undermine the Islamic Ummah.
