Lebanese Shia scholar Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Fadlallah made the remark while addressing the Islamic Unity International Conference.
He congratulated Muslims all over the world on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Sadeq (AS). He also thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for organizing the conference.
Fadlallah said the hegemonic powers that have lost their previous domination in Muslim countries are now seeking to create sedition and conflicts. “Under such conditions, endeavors by Muslim Ulama (scholars) is the only way for realizing unity in the Muslim Ummah.”
He underlined that history proves whenever there has been discord and division in the Muslim Ummha, the enemies have a harmed the Ummah.
“For achieving unity in the Muslim world, the Islamic scholars should first sit together and remove their differences and draw up a comprehensive strategy for maintaining unity.”
Fadlallah referred to the Zionist regime as a clear enemy of Islamic societies, lands and identity but stressed that if the Ummah gets united, no power can shake it.
He concluded by urging the media of the Muslim world to make efforts to spread public knowledge about the need for unity.
The 26th International Islamic Unity Conference is underway at Tehran's Summit Conference Hall. Top Iranian figures as well as scholars and thinkers from 102 countries have attended the three-day event.
