Old Quran Manuscripts Found in Turkey
Turkish officials say a large number of old Quran manuscripts have been found in a mosque in Kunia.
Some of the discovered copies are said to date back to 200 to 250 years ago, trouvetamosquee website reported.
They were found in the mosque’s attic while caretakers were cleaning the mosque.
There were 32 copies, all of which have been given to Kunia’s Manuscripts Library.
Director of the library said the manuscripts will be resorted and repaired in a year and put on display for the public.
He noted that there may be more such copies in other mosques in the region.
