OIC Condemns Burning of Islamic Manuscripts Library in Mali

The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu strong denounced the burning of manuscripts library in Timbuktu, northern Mali on 28 January 2013.

The library houses Islamic manuscripts and historical documents regarded as humanity’s heritage and a treasure for the entire Islamic Ummah.
The Secretary General deplored the violence, intimidation and destruction carried out by extremists and bigots which can be no means be attributed to the pristine Islamic religion, which is innocent of such acts.
