The second edition of the Ayat International Quranic Festival wrapped up in a ceremony held Thursday night at Vahdat Hall in Tehran.
It began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran followed by a speech delivered by Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Mohammadi, Quran and Etrat Deputy of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.
He said that all the teachings of the Quran are Fitri (based on humans’ nature) and that the mission of the messengers of God was to awaken these teachings in mankind and deliver the message of God to them.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi noted that the Quran deputy seeks to enrich arts with Quranic and religious content.
“The Quran and Etrat are our main assets and if arts get religious and Quranic content, they will remove the main problem of humanity, which is Nihilism.”
He added that the true artist is the one who can elevate himself by the sublime Quranic concepts and manage to convey the message to the world using arts.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi underlined that the Holy Quran addresses all humanity and that there is no verse in the Holy Book that addresses a certain race or ethnic group.
He further said that with the conclusion of the second edition of the Ayat International Quranic Festival, its third edition begins in 31 provinces of the country and in 300 cities.
Culture Minister Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini also addressed the ceremony on Thursday, saying that the Quran is entirely goodness and blessing and that the Holy Book has many messages for artists.
Egyptian Quran reciter Mahmoud Shahat Anwar was among the guests at the ceremony who recited verses from the Holy Quran and received applause from the audience.
At the end of the ceremony a number of artists and figures including Hojat-ol-Islam Panahian, Nader Talebzadeh, Ali Nasirian, Ali Amini, and Hadi Azarm were honored.
In the International Section, Mohammad Hadi Qorbani from Afghanistan, Mohammad Habibi Abdullah from Indonesia, Fatemeh Muhammad Al-Himad from Saudi Arabia and Sabriya Fiza from Albania were praised.
