Hossein Sheikhol-Eslam, international affairs advisor to the speaker of the Majlis, made the remark in a forum on “Muslim World, Two Years after Islamic Awakening”, adding that the Islamic Revolution of Iran, unlike revolutions in countries like Russia, France and China, relied on the masses and their presence on the scene.
He also pointed to West’s centuries-old efforts to undermine spirituality in the world, and noted that the Islamic Revolution of Iran and Imam Khomeini’s (RA) movement reversed the trend and the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Constitution was drafted based on religion, ethics and spirituality.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Sheikhol-Eslam referred to the differences between the uprising of the people of Egypt that led to the fall of Hosni Mubarak and the Islamic Revolution of Iran, saying that every revolution has three pillars, namely people, leadership and a school of thought.
He went on to say that lack of leadership has been one of the reasons why the Egyptian revolution has failed to achieve its objectives.
The forum on “Muslim World, Two Years after Islamic Awakening” was held on Tuesday at the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization.
