A Quran recitation contest will be held on March 5 by the Office for Muslims’ Religious Affairs in the Russian Republic of Ingushetia.
According to IQNA’s branch in Europe, the office announced that the contest has been planned for students of Islamic institutes in the region.
Plievo Islamic School will host the competition for two groups of participants, those below 15 years of age and those aged 15 or more.
A group of scholars and eminent Qaris of the republic will supervise the competition and evaluate the students’ skills in recitation of the Holy Quran’s verses.
Ingush people peacefully converted to Islam in the beginning of the 19th century with the help of Shaikh Kunta-Khadzhi, a Chechen Islamic scholar.
