With the help of the benevolent and charitable people, the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation is planning to build 1110 mosques in underprivileged regions.
This is according to the foundation’s deputy for public contributions Saeed Sattari who told IQNA that the mosques are to be constructed in the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21) under the Zakat Plan.
He said implementation of the plan began in 2005 as part of the foundation’s responsibilities to provide services to the society’s needy.
Sattari noted that in the past few years, over 6000 mosques were built in different parts of the country funded by the Zakat funds, financial contributions from the benevolent people and government helps.
He said the 1110 mosques planned for this year will be constructed in rural areas and based on the religious and social needs of each region.
Sattari added that on average around 700 million rials will be spent for construction of each of the mosques.
He hoped that with further contribution of the benevolent people in the society, the mosques that are built in underprivileged areas will be better equipped in the future.
