Transliterating African Languages into the Quranic Script Discussed in Rabat

Transliterating African languages into the standardized Quranic script was discussed at a meeting on April 5 in Rabat, Morocco.
Dr Yahia Abou El Farah, Director of the Institute of African Studies, affiliated to University Mohammed V-Soussi, in Rabat, made a working visit on April 5 to the headquarters of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), where he met with Dr Mustapha Ahmed Ali, Director of Culture and Communication.

During this meeting, the two parties discussed cooperation relations between ISESCO and the Institute with regard to transliterating African languages into the standardized Quranic script, republishing the African scientific, cultural and literary heritage transliterated into the Arabic script, promoting traditional knowledge, and maintaining and developing museums and their collections.

In the same vein, they explored ways to advance their cooperation relations in these areas, as part of implementing ISESCO’s new Three-Year Action Plan for 2013-2015.
