Quranic Culture High on Quran Schools’ Agenda

Education Minister Hamid Reza Hajibabayi said developing the Quranic culture is high on the agenda of the country’s Quran schools.
He made the remark in a meeting on Tuesday, April 16, with members of the Majlis’ Quran, Prayer and Etrat Fraction, adding that the Education Ministry founded Quran schools to train Quranic elites.
He said there were only 670 Dar-ol-Quran centers in the country’s schools in the past, but now the number of Quran schools has reached 10,000.
Hajibabayi noted that in the first year of the activity of Quran schools alone some 1.3 million studntes studied in these schools.
“As well as general education, the students in Quran schools receive 6 hours of Quranic education every week,” he said.
Hajibabayi stated that plans have been underway in the ministry in the past three years to move toward further promotion of the Quranic culture.
Elswhere in his remarks, the education minister praised the MPs for their role in the spread of the Quranic culture and urged for more support for Quranic plans.
