Distribution of Quran Translations in Other Countries Could Help Promote Quran
One of the policies to promote the Quran internationally is to distribute good translations of the Holy Book in other countries.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Naghdi, head of the Tarjoman-e Vahy (translation of Revelation) Institute made the remark in an interview with IQNA, adding that the objective of the institute from translating the Quran is promoting the concepts of the Holy Book, while avoiding sectarian conflicts.
He said the Islamic Republic of Iran seeks to avoid entering sectarian differences and disputes and present the Holy Quran to the world so that every free-thinking person in the Muslim world and elsewhere can study this Divine Book.
Hojat-ol-Islam Naghdi stressed that it does not make any difference whether he or she (one who studies the translation) follows the Shafe’ei, or Hanafi or other Islamic schools of thought or has another faith.
“Our effort is to translate the Quran and publish it in the target country and distribute it there,” he added.
The cleric said an Urdu translation of the Quran, for instance, is presented in Pakistan and India, English translations are distributed in the UK, US and Canada, and the Chinese rendering is presented in China.
He further said the institute has completed rendering the Quran into languages such as English, Spanish, Chinese, Turkish, Azeri, and French, some of which are to be published in several countries such as the US, France, Canada, India and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Hojat-ol-Islam Naghdi went on to say that translation of the Quran into several other languages has begun in the institute.
