A number of religious and cultural figures attended the opening ceremony of the center, romandie website reported.
Construction of the center, which includes a mosque, library, medical clinic, and elementary school, began in 2009 and it cost around 10 million euro to complete.
The mosque that is the third in the East European country has a minaret 24 meters high.
Croatia’s President Ivo Josipovic also attended the inauguration ceremony and said the establishment of the Islamic center showed religious pluralism has been accepted in the Christian-majority country.
Located in the Balkans, Croatia is a country where 87 percent of the population is Christian and Muslims make up 2 percent of the population.
