The city’s Imam Ali (AS) Islamic Center will organize the competition on June 21-23, the center’s website reported.
It will be held in the categories of recitation, memorization, Adhan and Tawaseeh (religious songs).
Quran reciters and memorizers from five countries of northern Europe- Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Germany will take part in the contest.
Muslims from different schools of thought will be able to take part in the international event, which is to be held for two age groups of under and above 16 years of age.
In the recitation category, familiarity with Tajweed, Sowt and Lahn principles will be among the criteria for assessing the contestants’ performance.
The criteria in the memorization category include reciting the verses determined by the jury in the style narrated by Hafs from Assem.
Fostering the Quranic culture and teachings, setting the stage for Quranic talents to blossom, enhancing acquaintance with Quran among memorizers and reciters, and providing a venue for the exchange of experiences among Quran reciters and memorizers have been cited by the organizers as the main objectives of the competition.
Representatives of each of the five countries who score the highest points in the contest will represent their country in the Islamic Republic of Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition.
