Syria’s foreign ministry condemned the EU’s move to add the military wing of Hezbollah to the list of terrorist organizations.
Issuing a statement on Tuesday, July 23, the Syrian ministry considered the move to be aimed at serving the Zionist regime, Al-Manar TV network reported.
Syria strongly condemns this decision by the EU and the powers behind it because it has targeted the present and future of the Arab Ummah and its resistance movement, the statement said.
It added that the move has been taken in response to demands by the Zionist regime and the US against the resistance movement in Lebanon and the region.
Syria’s foreign ministry underlined that the decision will have no effect on the spirit of resistance that led Hezbollah to victory over Israel and an end to the occupation of Southern Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi also condemned the move and said Israel must know it will not affect Hezbollah’s resistance approach.
He described the EU’s decision as a Zionist-American project and said the United States and Israel put pressures on the European Union to take the stance.
EU foreign ministers in a meeting in Brussels on Monday, July 22, added Hezbollah’s military wing to the list of terrorist organizations, a move that drew strong condemnation from political figures and parties in Lebanon and other Arab and Islamic countries.
