A photo exhibition titled “Islam in Europe” will be held on September 3 at the Islamic Studies Institute of Osnabruck University in Germany.
According to IQNA’s branch in Europe, the photos taken by Ahmad Crawzen, German artist, feature various Muslim communities and Islamic architecture in Europe.
Drawing a clear picture of Muslims in Europe and providing an opportunity for a better understanding between the European Muslim societies and followers of other faiths in the continent are the main objectives of the exhibition.
Ahmad Crawzen was born in 1955 in Aachen city and converted to Islam in 1985.
The University of Osnabruck is known for a large number of interdisciplinary degree programs, some of them rare or even unique among German universities, including European Studies, Applied Systems Science and Cognitive Science.
The Institute for Islamic Studies at the university is one of the four centers for Islamic studies established at German universities.
The Islamic centres are meant to train teachers, imams and theologians and engage in research, also in cooperation with other institutions in Germany and abroad.
They are based on an interdisciplinary approach and can draw on existing expertise in subject areas at their respective universities. For example, theology is linked to religious sociology, civilisation studies, education science and intercultural studies.
