Masoud Akhavan, director general of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization’s Atabat (Iraqi holy sites) Department made the remark in an interview with IQNA, adding that the registration will begin on Saturday, concurrent with the birth anniversary of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA), and continue for a week.
He said there will be a draw to select those who will be sent on a pilgrimage trip, adding that the result of the draw will be announced on September 22.
According to Mr. Akhavan, the pilgrims will be sent to Atabat during a period between October 8 and December 13.
He said during this period 3000 pilgrims will be sent to the holy sites every day.
Mr. Akhavan pointed to the terrorist bombings in Baghdad and said there is no security problem for Iranian pilgrims as they go to pilgrimage cities.
