Speaking to IQNA, Sayyidah bin Habili, former Algerian minister of national solidarity, added that by fomenting discord among Muslims, the West wants to serve the interests of the Zionist regime.
“Today, the security, independence and tranquility of Arab and Muslim nations are under threat. Our unity, our culture and our religion are at risk and this is unfortanatly happening under the banner of democracy.”
She said the objective pursued by the West is colonialism. “In 1850, too, the French occupied Algeria and took away our identity. They forced Algerian Muslims to have French passports. But Algeria did not surrender. Algeria started its move (against occupation and colonialism) with the slogan of Allahu Akbar (God Is Great) and offered over 1.5 million martyrs on this path.”
She reiterated that the Western countries and the Zionists are plotting against the Muslim world and said Google has released a document dating back to 1982 in which a Zionist regime foreign ministry official said the regime’s objectives would not be realized as long as the Arab and Muslim world geography remains the same.
Elsewhere in his remarks, she pointed to the important role of women in Islamic societies, saying that women can elevate awareness in society and play a major part in foiling the conspiracies of the enemies.
Habili also talked about the participation of Algerian women in the country’s affairs, saying that based on the constitution, 30 percent of the MPs and 40 percent of the judiciary officials should be women.
She added that there are 147 women in Algerian parliament and women have active participation in other public and state institutions.
Sayyidah bin Habili, who was in Tehran to attend the international congress of the World Union of Muslim Women, thanked the organizers of the congress and hoped that the event would have many positive outcomes.
She added that the congress should reiterate support for Palestinian women and underline its opposition to foreign intervention in Syria.
The first international congress of the World Union of Muslim Women was held on Saturday, September 7, in Tehran with the participation of women from different Muslim countries.
The congress, among other things, discussed the role of women grassroots organizations in elevating the status of Muslim women.
