TEHRAN (IQNA) - Security forces in Iraq’s eastern province of Diyala have discovered a number of Quran copies filled with explosives.

According to Sadiq al-Hussaini, a security official in the province, the copies were seized on Friday during search operations in al-Sa’adia and Jalula regions, Shafaq news website reported.
He said the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants had hidden explosives inside the Quran copies with the aim of carrying put terrorist attacks.
The official called on religious institutions and scholars to condemn such moves that desecrate Islamic sanctities.
The ISIL terrorists, who were initially trained by the CIA in Jordan in 2012 to destabilize the Syrian government, control large parts of Syria's northern territory. The ISIL sent its militants into Iraq in June, quickly seizing vast expanse of land straddling the border between the two countries.
They have threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Izadi Kurds, and others, as they continue their atrocities in Iraq.
