It aims to produce and distribute Islamic holy books written in Braille to people with vision loss and blindness, the Jakarta Post reported.

“PKPU as a national humanity institution has paid close attention to the interests of disabled people,” PKPU spokesperson Sukismo said.
He said PKPU hoped that with the "Spread 1,000 Braille Al Qurans" could contribute to improvement of teaching and learning of Islamic religious knowledge among disabled persons.
“Despite their limits, disabled people, especially those who are blind, should not find obstacles in improving the quality of their spiritual and religious knowledge,” said Sukismo.
The "Spread 1,000 Braille Al Qurans" program was launched during the National Disabled Children Fiesta event held at Al-Jannah Pondok Rangon in Cipayung, East Jakarta, on Sunday.
The event involved disabled children from various levels of schools. At least 60 kindergartens and elementary, junior high and senior high schools offering special programs for disabled children were invited to attend the event.
“The event is aimed at not only increasing creativity but also to form children with strong personalities, who are rich with both academic and spiritual achievements,” said Sukismo.
Praising the program, East Jakarta mayor H.R.Krisdianto said the braille Quran campaign should motivate Indonesian children to be more enthusiastic in improving their spiritual and religious knowledge.
