The event was commissioned by Sultan Qaboos bin Said and the closing ceremony was sponsored by the Grand Mufti of the Sultanate, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalili. It was held in the presence of Habib bin Mohammed Al Riyami, secretary general of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science, the Times of Oman reported.
The ceremony was attended by a number of ministers, undersecretaries, winners of the competition and their parents.
At the first level, where contestants were asked to memorise the whole Holy Quran, Dawood bin Zahran Al Anbri of Al Khoudh Centre won the first prize, followed by Ghaith bin Harib bin Butti Al Ghafri from Ibri Centre in second place and Zahir bin Mohammed bin Zahir Al Abri from Ibri Centre in third place.
At the second level, which asks contestants to memorise 24 parts of the Holy Quran, Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Subaihi, from Sinaw Centre came first, followed by Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Ghazali from Al Khuwair Centre in second place and Nuhail Al Nuaimi from Al Buraimi Centre in third place.
At the third level, which wanted contestants to memorise 18 parts, Leith bin Ishaq bin Yousef Al Kindi from Nizwa Centre came first, Am'ar bin Salim bin Ali Al Hashmi from Sinaw Centre came second and Mazin Al Nudheri from Sur Centre came third.
At the fourth level which asked contestants to memorise 12 parts, Abdulaziz bin Munir Al Masrouri from Al Khoudh Centre won the first prize, followed by Younis bin Sulaiman bin Abdullah Al Lamki from A'Rustaq Centre in second place and Ibrahim Al Busaidi, from Al Khuwair Centre in third place.
At the fifth level where contestants had to memorise six parts, Yousef bin Abdullah Al Habsi from Al Khuwair Centre came first, followed by Abdullah bin Khalid Al Kindi from Nizwa Centre in second place while Shamma bint Salim bin Mohammed Mesin from Thumrit Centre came third.
At the sixth level, which asked contestants to memorise two parts, Asim bin Al Jardanya from Al Khuwair Centre came first, followed by Imamah bint Yasir bin Mohammed Al A'miriyah from Sur Centre in second place and Salmah bint Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Farsiyah from Al Khuwair Centre in third place.
