The so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is a terrorist group believed to be supported by the West and some regional Arab countries.
The extremist group, which controls parts of Syria’s northern territory, sent its fighters into neighboring Iraq in June last year, quickly seizing large swaths of land straddling the border between the two countries.
The ISIL terrorists have been engaged in crimes against humanity in the areas under their in Iraq and Syria.
They have terrorized and killed people of all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.
